A Fail Democracy...
The Iraq War is not going according to plans. The Shiites, Kurds and Sunnis cannot agree on a draft constitution. Ironically, in listening to all sides, I agree with the position the Sunnis are taken. They position is reasonable and sound. Why is discrimination (baahtification) built into the purpose draft constitution? Iraqi women will have less civil rights. Former Baahtist: The professional and technocrats will not be allowed to participate in the government; which is a large segment of the Sunnis population. It will leave the Sunnis without an economic base (oil revenue). What people would accept a constitution to strip them of their human rights and dignity?
President Bush has failed to bring democracy to Iraq. No one is against the troops and the invasion of Afghanistan but Bush took a u-turn into Iraq without a plan or the consequences of invading Iraq knowingly.
Our civilian/military planners had no ideal that we would be fighting an insurgency war in Iraq. Insurgence cannot be defeated by it very nature. It’s like fighting your own shadow. Whatever faction who takes over Iraq, the insurgents, will simply fade into the background and become the governing body.
What did the U.S. gain with over 1800 Americans killed, thousands wounded, ten of thousands Iraqi killed, and countless wounded? Was all of this worth the cost? This is the question that must be answer.
