Making of a Mutiny...
History will tell us what has happen in the highest level of our system of government this week. In essence, a modern day mutiny: A fundamental split between the President of the United States (Commandant and Chief) and the United States Military. The actual players are President George W. Bush and Sen. John McCain, R-AZ, Sen. John Warner, R-VA, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC, Former Secretary of States Colin Powell and other top generals all former military men of distinction.
The fundamental disagreement is the interpretation or lack thereof as it relates to the Geneva Conventions by nations governing the treatment of prisoners of war by entities that work outside the provisions of the conventions; what is or not war a crime.
The lessions learned in the Iraq War are what we, as a nation should not be doing. This war has stressed our military to a breaking point that will take years too rebuilt.
However, how this will end can only strengthen our system of government and a testament to who we are as a people, our moral valves and democracy.
