Lord Help Us
Michael Dunn was found guilty on four counts in the trial of Jordan Davis, 17th year old black teen but a mistrial on the serious charge of murder in the first-degree. I do not want to hear about the law. I want to hear about justice. Race were front and center in this and the Martin's trial. This case was as clear as black and white or maybe that was the situation in the juror’s deliberation inside the juror room: Davis black and Dunn white. If the roles was reverse, what would have been the verdict? Enough is more then enough! Afro-Americans are going through emotional stress and trauma. Frustration is the most decent word I’m allow to use to describe what blacks around the country feels again. There are many past cases that I can name in cities across the country as well as in Omaha, NE where whites kills blacks and literally get away with murder which can’t be explain in the eyes of justice.
How long this lid stay on the pot nobody knows? But the danger signs are there. Only the present and elegant of the Davis and Martin’s Family and respect for them is keeping this from spinning out of control. The victims Jordan Davis and Treyvon Martin have all been forgotten. The two families and sons will not rest in peace until justice is prevail. One last thought, my grandmother ancestry is rooted in slavery and she often say to us children "Lord help us."
