Making of War

This is how war starts.  What is going on in Syria with the super powers: United States and Russia and the other fractions puts in place the machinery and ingredients for war. History is our North Star. World War I  started on an assignation and drew in other nations.  Vietnam [my war] was a spin-off from Indochina,Tonkin Gulf, and questionable to this day.  No one has fully grasped the miscalculations that in real time; how we got to this point.  President Obama will not go beyond his position of putting in Americans ground troops, especially, during an election year or give his critics ammunition.  Because of the political dynamic, there is no near term solution to this war ending soon. President Obama has a strong position in NO direct American involvement subject to interpretation.The policy is right; however, marring the policy with a strategy is very complex. There will be no end of the war without Arabs and Sunni  participation to defeat ISIS and included in future governance.  All of the participating parties in this conflict have their own strategic interest but no clear objective to defeat  ISIS.  The mission should be to destroy ISIS, remove President Bashar Al-Assad, return the refugees and rebuilt Syria.

Fifty years ago, I can still remember my war.  The theme was then and now:  War!  War!  What are we fighting for?
