An America Profile
America: A land of
opportunities, a land of pristine beauty, mountains, wilderness and
rolling plains from Atlantic to Pacific Ocean. Scores of migrants by
the hundreds and thousands from far away distance places took to the
seas for a new beginning and promise land. They plowed and
cultivated the land and built settlements by hand. Eventually, they
migrated North, South and West by foot, cover wagons across the open
plains guided only by their will, faith and dreams of freedom. They
were not alone Native-Americans, indigenous people, who ancestors
live upon the land for generations was force into reservations.
Overtime war became the rule and not the exception bringing diseases
and genocide upon the people.
However American greatest
sin: Slavery. For 300 years Africans was captured and sold into
bondage which created the economic engine and infrastructure that
built America with their blood, sweat and tears. Millions of slaves
parish and millions more slave survive the “the crossing.”
Africans are the only ethnic group who did not migrate to America by
choice. Afro-America decendents of slaves does still bares the
burden of scares of slavery to this day.
America is changing. Bye
the year 2050, there will be more people of color. Therefore America
will change too. An inscription on the Status of Liberty reads:
“...give me your tired,
your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”
These words still hold
true.
Empire rises
and empire falls. Great nations are created and develop. Great
nations are not born out of power but born out of the diversity of
its people. We the people
are a nation of immigrants and diversity. After all of its past
history, trials and tribulations, America is a great nation.
