Syria...Syria!

The Russia’s proposal: The greatest fear is the ghost of time past.  In 1938, Munich, Germany, the phrase “peace for our time” spoken by Neville Chambelain, British Prime Minister.  This false sense of peace and miscalculation was one factor for Hitler’s Germany quest for war in Europe.  Also some unfortunate references were made to the use of sarin gas in past wars, etc.  Now we are at a time and place in the Middle East where a wider war is a possibility.  Our Secretary of State, John Kerry and Russia Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov will meet in Geneva, Switzerland to seek a verifiable diplomatic solution to this crisis. Russia has propose one solution to the crisis in Syria by removing all chemical weapons under United Nation supervision, however, Russia has said, "het" to the United States, Great British, and France to a resolution submitted to the  UN Security Counsel.   If the war spreads, it will become a proxy war between two nuclear powers: the United States and Russia. The larger underline interests are Israel, sending a message to Iran, and the free flow of oil in the Middle East.  Russia interests are Assad staying in power and access to a warm water naval port. The world can only hope that we don’t miscalculate again (a word we heard often).
